Terry Mullins, Ed.D., will give conferees a basic introduction to what is known about Melungeon history as well as the mysteries that continue to intrigue researchers.    Dr. Mullins, a native of Bluefield, WV and lifelong resident of Tazewell, Virginia, holds a B.A from James Madison University, an M.S. from Radford University, and an Ed.D. from Virginia Tech.  He serves as associate professor of Education at Concord College, and also teaches U.S. history to students in 16 school divisions through the Southwest Virginia Educational and Training Network.  He has written three books and coauthored five others, all about the history of Appalachia.

Current Speaking Engagement

Before 13th Union, Dr. Mullins is scheduled as a guest presenter at the upcoming Cross-Cultural Institute that will be hosted by the Clark County School District’s Equity & Diversity Education Department.  The institute will be held  June 11-  June 12, 2009,  in Las Vegas, Nevada.
